Defense & Security Studies is a program that advances understanding of global security. Since 2013, DSS has led conferences, workshops, and seminars on contemporary security challenges.

DSS convenes gatherings with a consortium of sixteen institutions—Annapolis, Brown, Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, West Point, and Yale.

DSS emphasizes interdisciplinary methods, integrating the security advancements of several fields, to include development, diplomacy, economics, history, law, management, and technology.
